Drawing by Lori Schue

Colored pencil is an often over-looked medium that is finally coming into its own. For fine art or illustration, these simple tools can produce lovely nuances to bring your art alive with rich, vibrant color and a dizzying range of effects. Learn basic methods and strategies to create wonderful artwork guided by illustrator Lori VanKirk Schue.

As in painting, students learn layering, blending and buffing strokes to achieve the translucency of watercolors with this dry medium. Perfect for all levels and a favorite among artists who want to explore an alternative to paint or pastels, versatile colored pencils are also relatively inexpensive and easy for the mobile artist to take along.

Bring colored pencils, a sharpener, drawing paper in any size, and an eraser. No previous drawing experience is necessary; all skill levels are welcome.

2 sessions; 3 hours each
